Due to the rapidly changing environment in Arizona the past 3-4 years, heartworm disease is starting to become an epidemic in the valley. There have been over 1000 case diagnosed in dogs and over 50 cases of positive in door only cats ( April 1, 2006 – October 2006). The key to keeping this life threatening disease away from your pet is heartworm prevention. Testing is required in dogs prior to starting prevention.
