Dr. Penwell

Dr. Penwell

I grew up in Penfield, New York. I received my B.S in Microbiology in 1991 and my M.P.H in Hospital and Molecular Epidemiology in 1994 from the University of Michigan,(GO BLUE!!). I worked in a immunology research laboratory before receiving my D.V.M. in 2000 from Michigan State University. After an internship in small animal medicine and surgery at Auburn University, I moved to Arlington Heights, Illinois to work in a small animal practice. Even though I loved the Chicago area, it was much too cold for me! I moved to Phoenix in 2002 and have worked for Arrow Group since that time. I enjoy field trips with the Arizona Archeological Society, hiking, and exploring the southwest. I share my home with Sampson the Doberman Pinscher, Eleanor the Basset Hound and six cats: Miranda, Hobbs, Lucas, Oscar, Penelope and Gizmo.

Dr. Hummel

I received a B.S. degree in Biology with an interest in Molecular Biology and Genetics from St. Mary’s University in San Antonio, Texas before graduating from Purdue University School of Veterinary Medicine in 1994. I spent time practicing in Houston, Texas, and San Francisco, California before moving to the greater Phoenix area in 2003. Since coming to the valley, I have worked in multiple veterinary hospitals in the Arrow Group as a relief veterinarian. I remained as full time veterinarian at Goodyear Animal Hospital from July 2005 to September 2007 before transferring to Westbrook Animal Hospital as an owner veterinarian. My partner and I live in northwest Phoenix with our 4 wonderful dogs, Monty, Maggie, Adam and Austin, all of whom have their own special medical problems. Together, we own a dog daycare, boarding, and grooming facility in Surprise, Arizona. When we are not working, I enjoy playing with the dogs, caring for my Plumeria collection and cooking.

Dr. Kiedrowski

Dr. Kiedrowski

Dr. Kiedrowski has been a managing partner at Dove Valley Animal Hospital since October 2003. He was a graduate of West Phoenix High School before attending. Northern Arizona University receiving his Bachelor of Science in Zoology. He finished his collegiate education at Colorado State University receiving his DVM degree in 1989. Post graduation, he returned to Arizona and began his real life training at Camelwest Animal Hospital before taking a position and becoming a partner at Mountain View Animal Hospital where he practiced until 2003. He studied in an internship in Avian / exotic medicine under Dr Susan Clubb in Florida. He has provided consulting work for The Phoenix Zoo, Out Of Africa, Wildlife World Zoo, Arizona Game & Fish, as well as the Animal Kingdom Stores, Pet Pad Stores and The Arizona Reptile Center. He has lectured on exotic animal medicine and husbandry to numerous groups including The Arizona Veterinary Medical Association, The Arizona Veterinary Health Care Team and the International Herpetological Symposium. He spent 6 years on the board of The Arizona Herpetological association and is a consulting veterinarian for The National Turtle and Tortoise Association. He is a member of The Association of Reptile and Amphibian Veterinarians.

He was born in Milwaukee Wisconsin where he learned to chase frogs and snakes in the local swamp. His family moved to Arizona in 1968. As a small child his career choices included Paleontology, Herpetology and Veterinary Medicine. After being informed that all the dinosaurs were dead, Paleontology was dropped from the list. In college he realized that opportunities for herpetologists were very limited so Veterinary Medicine became the top choice.

His hobbies include spending time with his wife and two sons. In his spare time he breeds reptiles and restores old pinball machines to sell or add to his collection.

Dr. Stanat

Dr. Stanat

I grew up in Germany, but after my first long visit to the US in high school I knew I wanted to stay. I lived in New Mexico and Colorado for quite a few years and moved to Arizona the summer of 2008 after receiving my Doctorate of Veterinary Medicine from Colorado State University. I then completed a one-year internship in small animal emergency, surgery and internal medicine. After working in a small animal practice in the East Valley for a couple of years I have now joined Westbrook Animal Hospital. I have indulged my passion for exotic animals and wildlife by spending two summers in Alaska working with stranded marine mammals at the Alaska SeaLife Center in Seward. Today, my practice of veterinary medicine is mostly focused on dogs and cats. I enjoy all aspects of veterinary medicine with a special interest in internal medicine, feline medicine and preventative care for pets. Over the years I have been adopted by several furry friends, of the feline persuasion, while volunteering for animal shelters locally and abroad. I currently have 4 cats: Puca, Don Juan de Gato, Penguino and Foster. In my spare time I like playing the piano and the violin, hiking and exploring the outdoors. I also try to go scuba diving whenever possible. I am looking forward to meeting you and your beloved pets.
